With much of the country trapped in a deep winter freeze with no end in sight, today's quote of the day reminds us to take a look at the trees. Although they look totally dead and covered in ice and snow, Rachel Carson reminds us that all of spring's magic is concealed and safely preserved under the insulating and overlapping layers of the buds that dot each branch.

While we are talking about trees and winter, I want to also share a song called "The Evergreen" by Mary Scholz. In it she talks about surviving and thriving even when conditions are harsh.
