This week we learn that the Washington Post is getting rid of 33% of its staff. The once great paper is becoming a shell of its former self. We all knew when Jeffery Bezos bought the paper that he had no intention of continuing its long tradition of journalistic excellence. We knew he was more likely to use it for propaganda than speaking truth to power.

We cannot control what has happened to the state of journalism over the past decade or so, but we can control what we do moving forward. Moving forward we must put our money behind real journalism. We must subscribe to our local papers before they are gone and we must pick a few national/international publications that haven't yet lost their way and support them too. These sources cannot survive without us and our country cannot survive without these sources.
