In 1953 Richard Wright penned today's quote of the day to try to wake us up to the idea that human technology and inventions have the power to destroy all life on Earth. At the time, the primary focus of these words was on the recent development of nuclear weapons. Now, we understand that there are many ways in which our unchecked greed, coupled with our technology, could bring about the end of civilization on this planet.
In the video presented below, the great Carl Sagan clearly lays out the dangers that we face from the unchecked release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. I highly encourage everyone to take a bit of their day to watch this testimony that has held up so well all these years later.
