With yesterday's announcement by the Pentagon that they will livestream a firing squad execution it seems we have now ticked off all the things on Orwell's list. I guess this shows that the decay of civilization is complete. Imprisonment without trial (we did him one better by including children as young as 3 years old), torture, deportation of whole populations, and now public executions.

One of the differences between his 1984 and now, is that we willingly add big brother to our home and pay a premium to have the latest model.
