Whether it is black lung caused by coal dust or silicosis caused by artificial stone being cut, workers are dying horrible deaths while some politicians fight for the rights of the companies to escape responsibility for worker deaths.

This is not some aberration, it is capitalism working as intended. John Steinbeck often wrote about how the system is designed to create desperation in as many workers as possible. Capitalists don't care if you hate your job so long as you are desperate enough to be scared that you will lose it. This is the kind of situation that is needed to keep people working in conditions that will kill them.
