This week The Guardian published a short piece by Lucianne Tonti based on her book Good Witch: In Search of Our Lost Feminine Power. Her research for the book showed a clear pattern all across the western world. When men felt threatened by a women's wealth, power, creativity, or skills, the odds of her being accused, tried, and convicted of witchcraft skyrocketed.

Isabel Allende tells us that the basic dynamics haven't changed. That "women are still punished for men's weakness and vice". We must call this out every time we see it. When men say that women should be in traditional roles, it is because those men can't stand competition in the classroom or the boardroom.
