Seventy-five years ago, Rachel Carson tried to teach us that the surface waters of the world's oceans link together the life of all parts of the sea. These interlocking relationships are delicately adjusted and not well understood.

Too few people take seriously the consequences that might arise from recklessly pushing these systems outside the historical range of temperatures. I highly recommend reading this work from Rachel Carson to appreciate the special planet on which we live (I give you the first page below so you can see how wonderful her words are) and this article that talks about the consequences of society's profit-driven actions.
