Earlier in the week I talked about how Mamdani going to the watch party in Riker's Island Prison was inline with Jesus's words in Matthew 25. Following in Mamdani's footsteps might be hard, but a way to meet the spirit of the law without necessarily following the letter of the law is to help out with a prison book program.

I know we are not in Texas, but the state has enacted a new law to make it harder to get books to prisoners (See story in Texas Tribune). The group Inside Books Project is working hard to keep the books flowing to Texas inmates and can use our help. Consider donating books or funds to help them out at this link.

As Kurt Vonnegut reminds us, the small action of getting a person the right book can change the world.
