Two hundred and fifty years ago, the citizens of Philadelphia first heard the famous words that all us know by heart. Those in attendance heard that all people had the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But today we turn to an Englishman who tells us that liberty has nothing to do with the right to exploit others for profit. Instead, it is the right to own your own home and to do what you like in your spare time.

Assuring all people a long and fulfilling life is goal that was set before us 250 years ago today. We should never lose sight of the true nature of these words.
