This weekend the San Francisco Giants had a Pride Night Game in which the players wore an alternate hat where the team logo was done in multiple different colors. The bottom part had the visible colors of the electromagnetic spectrum. Three of the players felt the need to find a way to protest this simple gesture towards inclusivity.

The starting pitcher wrote the numbers for a bible verse next to the logo. As you can see in the story below, these verses are god speaking to Noah about why there will sometimes be a rainbow after a storm. He says it will remind him that he is never again going to "destroy all life" with flood waters.

First of all, he didn't destroy "all life" the first time, so that statement isn't even factually accurate. But it is logically ridiculous to believe a god who is all knowing and all powerful needs a reminder that he is not suppose to kill us all.

After the game the player explained that this section of Genesis is important to him because it illustrates god's faithfulness and god's mercy. Don't people take a moment to think about how just before this passage, god has killed almost all living creatures on earth, including women, children, and the elderly? Do they think of all the deadly floods that have come since that passage was written and think, 'Well, technically he lived up to his bargain because he didn't kill everyone with the flood waters. Isn't he grand?'

These are the kind of things about literal interpretations of the bible that use to drive Bakunin nuts. In today's quote of the day, he was trying shock the reader out of their simplistic reading of the bible in the hopes that they wouldn't go around bragging about a murderous god on their baseball caps.
