We read today that international conflict is at its highest level since WWII. This is not surprising with the go it alone attitude of some of the major countries around the world. I get that international organizations and alliances might require a lot of effort and involve compromises to the things you want to do, but, in the long run, strengthening these organizations is in the long-term interest of all humanity.

In today's quote of the day, Ben Franklin showed that he understood the benefits of having an international body formed by "virtuous and good men of all nations" which would "be governed by suitable good and wise rules". Maybe humans are not capable of putting aside their own greedy short-term interests in the name of a sustainable and peaceful future. However, I am on team Ben and think there has never been a better time to find a way to come together to form rules and regulations that will apply to all countries, including those who honestly believe they are God's gift to humanity.
