The ink isn't even dry on the awful Supreme Court decision that overturned parts of the voting rights act, and now Tennessee has disenfranchised black voters in Memphis.

We all need to channel our inner Meridian, a character created by Alice Walker. When she saw injustices rooted in racism and classism, her rage was such "that she actually felt as if the rich and the racist of the world should stand in fear of her". She knew she was "weak and penniless" and "a little crazy and without power". Yet, she also recognized she was "of a resolute and relatively fearless character, which...could bring the mightiest country to its knees".

We cannot sit back and ignore what is happening as the gains of the last 60 years are obliterated before our eyes. Shine a spotlight on what is happening, attend protests, and, for god's sake, make sure all the caring people you know are registered to vote.
