Vox asks if we can spend our way out of the current loneliness epidemic, but without spending money on a subscription, we cannot even find out their answer or their reasoning. So instead, let us turn to the words of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in The Little Prince. He tells us that capitalism is the root of the problem and not the solution. Our modern lifestyle gives us no time to learn how to make or create anything, including friendships. There will never be a shop in which one can buy friendship. It requires time, effort, empathy, and focus - all things that seem to have been in short supply for quite awhile.
