The face of feminism in the United States in my lifetime was Gloria Steinem. I remember her activism since I was just a child and I have continued to see her advocating for women until just recently. To many people feminism is about women gaining equality with men, but I prefer to look on it like Isabel Allende.

"Feminism is not about replicating the disaster [of men controlling society]. It's about mending it." It is about mending the destruction of the planet and the moral fiber of humanity. This is the same theme is found in Ani DiFranco's song "Which Side are You On". Take a few minutes today to listen to Ani's song and continue to channel your inner Gloria Steinem.
